EDM #111 - Draw a Bowl

Every monday at our local library, the kids are welcome to sit down and listen to some storys. It is an half an hour event and a good time for me to do some sketching.
I usually do some shelves or something but yesterday I decided it was time for the kids. This is my daughter in orange and her friend. Thats all I had time for. Well, I got to listen to some good storytelling and played with my infant at the same time.

They always sing and learn some rhyme and the storyteller asked if they knew any songs about a cat. My daughter quickly said that she has made up an song about a cat and started to sing:
“I know a small cat
It’s blue and white and black
and it’s not a real cat”
(my translation, she sang in swedish)

I spent about two hours in the town today. It was sunny but cold and I had a great time. I brought my youngest (5 months) and she was asleep in the babysling most of the time.
First I sat down outside the Cathedral and turned my face towards the sun. There is the city hall and I grabbed my pen. After a while I decided to make a new rule for myself for the future. Don’t pick subject to draw in the middle of the sun. Not nice and easy for the eyes. Nice and warm for the cheek have to stand back.

I turned around and walked ten meters and sat down again with my back at the sun.

Right around the corner on Hunnebergsgatan. Some nice houses from different times. I was in a hurry, it was getting colder!

The daughter woke up and was hungry. I found a chair in a corner of the infocenter in the library where I spent some time nursing and drawing.

And then to the basement for some drawing in my favorite exhibit, the curio cupboard with lots of neat things I have looked forward to draw someday. But when I got there I found out that for now it is going to be another exhibit there and the curiostuff is not back until later. Of course the new exhibit has grand opening in just 30 minutes. It would have been a good challange to sketh people there but the little one wants to crawl around so I decided to go somewhere else.
I went to Passagen, the center of contemporary art and did a quick sketch there. Some musicians where there and it was kind of nice.

**update**
I forgot to mention that the town i live in is Linköping.
During the weekend I started to paint a potted plant I keep at the kitchen table. I knew it would be tricky because I have not done my exercises on shiny things yet.
I just have some time here and there so the light came from diffrent angels everytime I sat down. Sunday evening I didn’t like it at all but today I added some even darker spots and I think I leave the plant like this. This picture is just a part of the painting and I think I will add some text around it.

The last square on this edm challange page! As you probably has understand already it has been hard. Around dinner is not my most productive time, and every morning the challange came into my mind and disapeared somewere on the way towards dinner.
Yesterday, I sat outside in the sun, drawing spots on a giraffe while my soon-to-be-four-years-old was playing in the sand. She said she was making dinner and asked me if I want some. Yes! Dinner!
Inspiration came. Hurray!

I have to practise hands some more! I like to practise on everything. This is my own hand but it looks nothing like this. I don’t want this to be another blockage so I leave it like this and I will do my hand now and then.
A couple of weeks ago I started to do the early edm challanges and the first two pages (I did them in my big sketchbook, four at a page) was a great inspiration.
I feel a lot of stress from everything right now and to sit down and just do the picture without the stress to decide what to draw was great.
And then came number nine! Draw a bit of organized chaos!! Everything is chaos. On my desk, in the apatement, in my head. I got stuck. This really blocked me and I know that this is not the intention of the challanges.
I tried to just skip it and go to the next. But the relief I felt earlier not have to choose subject made me try to fill the square in my sketchbook. I took the cap of my pen a hundred times but never succeeded. One evening I sat with my daughter as she was falling asleep. I decided to draw the sideboard we have in the hallway. I gave it 30 seconds and then decided to leave it.
