SketchCrawl 13

I spent about two hours in the town today. It was sunny but cold and I had a great time. I brought my youngest (5 months) and she was asleep in the babysling most of the time.
First I sat down outside the Cathedral and turned my face towards the sun. There is the city hall and I grabbed my pen. After a while I decided to make a new rule for myself for the future. Don’t pick subject to draw in the middle of the sun. Not nice and easy for the eyes. Nice and warm for the cheek have to stand back.

I turned around and walked ten meters and sat down again with my back at the sun.

Right around the corner on Hunnebergsgatan. Some nice houses from different times. I was in a hurry, it was getting colder!

The daughter woke up and was hungry. I found a chair in a corner of the infocenter in the library where I spent some time nursing and drawing.

And then to the basement for some drawing in my favorite exhibit, the curio cupboard with lots of neat things I have looked forward to draw someday. But when I got there I found out that for now it is going to be another exhibit there and the curiostuff is not back until later. Of course the new exhibit has grand opening in just 30 minutes. It would have been a good challange to sketh people there but the little one wants to crawl around so I decided to go somewhere else.
I went to Passagen, the center of contemporary art and did a quick sketch there. Some musicians where there and it was kind of nice.

**update**
I forgot to mention that the town i live in is Linköping.

I loved “sketchcrawling” with you and seeing your sketches. I can only imagine how enjoyable it was taking your wee one with you for the day. These will be very special memories.

Maria, I loved your sketches, especially the cathedral and the infocenter. I am from the US so Sweden is exotic to me, but I loved how you took your everyday places and made them seem special. I’m also very impressed that you were able to do it with an infant along.

Shirley: Yes this will be lovely memories, sure beats spending half of the day in the sofa! Even if the drawings would have been awful to everyone else I had the perfect sketchcrawl.
Nancy: You should see me now, with the infant in my knee, the dictionary in one hand trying to type with the other! :)
laserone: Thank you, I had so much fun doing it and now all the lovely comments makes me feel so great inside.
margaret hunt: I enyojed it and will do more of this. Pieces of my surroundings.
Ronell: I love to just walk around and look at different buildings and roofs and windows and small details of houses. I had a problem wanting to sketch the whole city hall but manage to “just” take a wing. It was a school once.
sherie: Thank you too!

I used to have a pen-pal who lived in Linkoping, so it’s great to see what her home town looks like! Great drawings.
