a roof

We moved this autumn and now we live on what could be the nicest street in the world. Maybe. At least it makes me smile when I go out. I haven’t been out there sketching anything yet but from our yard I have done some roofs. This is what I did today while the children got dirty. So this is one of the roofs on the street but from the backside..

I used pen and watercolor, only paynes grey. Some of the color got away somewhere, maybe it is still in the scanner. Where I had a more watery wash it is only the paperwhite left. (the sky for exampel)
I guess you all have to come visit me to see it properly!

soup

Last week we celebrated Lucia. At our nursery they had the most adorable show and after that we had “fika” (coffee, gingerbread and some soft buns with saffron).
After that we had salmon soup with saffron and then carrot cake and cardamum ice cream for dessert. I prepared the soup earlier that day and when I had peeled the vegetables I just had to sketch them. Never came around to add some color until today.

Lucia

yesterday I was at a beautiful Lucia procession at the church nearby. Our nursery has lucia celebration on december 12 and then we have the Real Lucia, december 13. I would like to write everything about Lucia but I don’t have the time.

Imgaination

I took the chance to join Nina J and do something from imagination every day in December. It is hard for me, but I let the pen go over the paper and try not to think about it as I tend to just hesitate the time away ending up with nothing. So here is something!
I started the second but that image is stuck in gimp.. I had a plan to color it there and well.. maybe I get to it later!

I am kind of Christmas oriented for the moment. And the fish? Probably a greeting to Mika and David, it just came out of the pen. Then I wanted to color this page with color pencils and borrowed from the kids. I have been dreaming about buying some of my own but I found out that my hands still are to sore after the Lyme disease and I had to take a break after each of this small drawings.

This are autumn angels. My four year old has been talking about those creatures for over a year and she has all kinds of stories about them. She have drawn some earlier and I just tried to make some. She recognized them as her angels but also says that they look nothing like that, just so you know. The ones visible are children for example. The grownups are so tiny no one can see them.

Yesterday I was still thinking about the autumn angels. Tried to do one more child like. Still way off according to the daughter.
Years ago I wrote a story with drawings to my little brother for his birthday. It is a story about monster and I did a lot of monsters back then. Yesterday I think I saw one of them again. Hiding behind the bed.

Drawing from imagination is hard and fun. But I know I need to draw from life a lot more. Just to see the world properly..

EDM #147 - Draw or paint something made of wood

This is something to open nuts with, made of wood by a man in the village Adak (Sweden) his name was Sven Öhman. I keep her and her older sister with our Christmas-stuff and it is so nice to unpack them every year.
